Lace up your skates and join us for the first Allied Printing Charitable Foundation JGS Memorial Winter Classic 3 on 3 Hockey Tournament on February 24th & 25th, 2018.

GAME FORMAT

  • Each team will be guaranteed FOUR “regular season” games plus playoffs
  • Three on three format, plus goalies (full-sized regulation nets)
  • Each game will consist of a short warmup, and TWO15 minute (running-time) halves
  • Each game will have on official (off the ice) to call goals and penalties only (there are no “lines”, which means there is no off-sides or icing)
  • There will be a penalty shot for any penalty called by referee
  • If any player engages in a “FIGHT”, they will be disqualified from the tournament and asked to leave immediately. ABSOLUTELY NO FIGHTING!
  • Regular season games can end in a tie
  • No checking. Keep it clean… this is a fun event for charity! Any penalties called will result in a “PENALTY SHOT” followed immediately by live play. Also, the player who took the penalty must leave the ice and take a shift off to “settle down”
  • Goalies as signed up as individuals and will rotate through different teams. We have 17 teams and only 10 goalies, so they will be asked to play as many games as they can!
  • NO SLAP SHOTS (the rinks are small, so this is for player safety). If someone takes a slapshot, possession will go to the other team. Goals on a slap shot will not be allowed.
  • After the puck is covered up by a goalie, or after a goal, that team will skate the puck out from their own end (starting behind their net)
  • Players can change on the fly!
  • Face-offs to start each half will be held at center ice with “3-taps / NHL” (Mighty Ducks style!)

 

TEAM/PLAYER REQUIREMENTS

  • Every player must wear (at a minimum) skates, helmet, gloves, and shin pads (cages or visors are not required, but encouraged for safety)
  • Each team must bring/provide their own matching jerseys (same color is fine)
  • Each team must have a minimum of four skaters, and a maximum of six skaters
  • Teams do not need to have a goalie (goalies sign up individually, and will be rotated at random through the teams)
  • Goalies will switch nets at the 'half' so that they play for/against each team in each game

 

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

  • Teams are grouped into “Divisions”
  • Each team will play other teams in their division
  • Top two teams from each division advance to the 'playoffs' (plus two “WILD CARDS)
  • Playoffs are single-elimination 'bracket' format
  • In the playoffs, goalies are picked at random for each team

 

SPECTATORS/FAMILY

  • General admission is $10 for spectators and family
  • All you can eat and drink
  • There is a fieldhouse to play soccer for the kids and/or players between games
  • There are also heated spectator rooms

 

VOLUNTEERS

  • Volunteers will attend for free, and be entitled to free food/drink throughout the day

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

  • All players will receive a tax-deduction certificate for their 'charitable donation'
  • Each player will receive a complimentary winter hat "JGS81 Winter Classic"
  • Guests can buy an additional hat for $20 at the event

  • $80 per skater
  • $400 per team
  • $50 Goalies FREE
  • $10 per attendee
