About Us:

Mission Statement

The mission of the FOP Cops and Kids program is to build relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve through programs that directly impact children’s lives. Officers taking underprivileged kids shopping for Christmas presents when they may not receive a present, providing children with school supplies to excel in school or providing food bags to take home during the holidays, is our focus.  Our goal through sponsorship of these programs, in our community, is to reinforce the image that the police in their area are friends and are always there to help. We strive to partner with civic leaders, business associations and companies to achieve this mission through the support of the community by donations to our FOP Cops and Kids program.

The Cobb County Police Community Affairs Unit was created by Chief Mike Register in 2017 to bridge the gap between the police department and the community it serves. The CAU accomplishes this mission by using many outside-of-the-box approaches. The CAU discovered that as of October 2018,  46,311 students qualify for the free or reduced-price lunch program. The majority of those parents still struggle to pay for their child's school lunch. When this occurs, the child is given a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which can cause embarrassment in front of their peers. Working in conjunction with the Cobb Schools Food and Nutrition Services, the CAU created the Cops and Kids Golf Tournament with the goal of fully funding the reduced price lunch program for the upcoming school year. This ensures that no family that may be struggling economically will be unable to feed their child, and additionally prevents children from being embarrassed in the lunch line. Together with our community partners, we can ensure that no child wants for a healthy lunch in Cobb County.
